Belfast local peer support group meeting

This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.

Our speaker for this meeting will be Jennifer Doherty who will share her inspirational story about her Himalayan challenge to the Everest base camp.

Jennifer is a 36 year old IT business owner from Buncrana, Donegal who has been blind from eight months old after being born 11 weeks prematurely and having a detached retina.

Jennifer accepted a challenge to complete the arduous 12 day trip with a group of fellow explorers to Mount Everest base camp in Nepal. Jennifer is a guide dog owner but could not take her Guide Dog along.

Jennifer, Jason Black and the Ketterkenny Mountaineering team followed the route to the south-east camp in Nepal, which sits at an altitude of approximately 5,364m (17,598 feet) that was navigated by Norgay and Edmund Hillary.
