Webinar: Influencing with Retina UK
The latest webinar from Retina UK.
Thank you for joining our webinar ‘Influencing with Retina UK’. We hope you found the content useful.
As mentioned, here are a few links for further information, and details on how you can find your local MP.
The Consultation website contains all the information about the proposals, including details on how you can get accessible versions of the Green Paper. Towards the bottom of the page, it will also give you either a link to respond online – this opens up a web form. Alternatively there is an email or physical address where you can send your responses.
If you want to make contact with your local MP, you can use the They Work For You Website. By searching with your postcode or town it will tell you who your MP is, and various means to contact them.
RNIB have a tool on their campaign website that will write an email for you to send to your MP, it has a template in place and prompts you to write your thoughts on the consultation. You can read the email before it is sent.
Whilst contacting your MP is a valid way of having your voice heard, we would suggest also responding to the consultation (even if it is a few personal paragraphs) to ensure these are taken into consideration at both the DWP and with your MP.
When speaking with your MP, remember these four tips
- Be personal: Your lived experience is powerful.
- Be clear: Explain what support or change you’re seeking.
- Be polite: A respectful tone encourages a constructive response.
- Be persistent: It’s okay to follow up if you don’t get a reply.
We will keep you updated with this current consultation, and about different campaigns that may be of interest through our newsletters and social media channels.
If you would like any more information, please email info@retinauk.org.uk and we will get back to you.
