Meet our supporters: Ian Shorthose

Whether you're an expert runner, or a rebel *with* a cause, there's no better experience than the London Marathon!

With supporter-lined streets and an electric atmosphere, taking on the London Marathon is brilliant way to achieve something incredible for a good cause.

Ian tells us about experience and why he was part of #TeamRetinaUK in 2023:

“My daughter has Stargardt’s and I really want to help raise some money to assist with funding research to try to find treatments for this and other sight loss diseases. In April, I’ll be taking on the 2023 TCS London Marathon with #TeamRetinaUK.

“I’m really looking forward to the incredible atmosphere and the encouragement from the spectators as I plod round! I am proud to be involved with this charity and raising funds makes me feel that I’m doing my bit to help those with inherited sight loss.

“So far, I’ve simply asked lots of people to donate and they have been very generous. My next step is to ask my employer if they will be willing to make a donation to the cause. I play guitar in a band, and they have also said they will “pass the hat around” at the next couple of gigs so I may raise some funds from this also!”
