Laura will be joining us to tell us all about a new rehab offer that Guide Dogs are rolling out.
Due to growing need for support of people who experience sight loss Guide Dogs has launched a national service to offer short term rehab support to anyone with non-correctable sight loss. Their aim is not to impact the statutory duty of local authorities but to offer help quickly around short-term support while people wait for local authority.
Their focus will be around advice, assessment, independent living skills, orientation and mobility, equipment advice, tech support and ensuring people are referred to local authorities. They will still be offering their Guide Dog service, and this will be along side supporting customers to achieve Guide Dog mobility if that is the right decision for them.
Please come along and feel free to ask any questions you may have for Laura regarding this new initiative from Guide Dogs. We also welcome you to come and share any mobility advice, information or tell us about any travel experiences or V.I holidays that you have enjoyed in the past and would like to recommend.
Richard and Rachael are happy to answer any questions or queries you may have around travel, holidays or getting out and about in general so please feel free to come and have a chat with them and the group for any support you may need.
