Dan found out he had retinitis pigmentosa in February 2022, but he feels it has been “on cards for years”. He said he had “an inkling something was up but never did anything about it: a typical guy I guess!”

Cataracts occur fairly frequently and at a relatively early age within the Retina UK community of people with inherited retinal conditions. A question that comes up over and over again is whether or not to have cataract surgery.
With more treatments coming through the development pipeline, we are all hopeful that more of those living with inherited sight loss will be offered the opportunity to take part in clinical trials in the years to come.
