Talk & support service

Our Retina UK Talk & support service (formerly Telephone Befriending Service) links people who may be feeling isolated or lonely with a trained volunteer for regular contact.

Artificial vision

There are about 125 million rod and cone cells within the retina that act as the eye's light receptors.

Electrical stimulation therapy

Electrical stimulation is under investigation to determine whether a small electric charge applied to the retina can stimulate the production of a number of important biological ‘factors’ that in turn could trigger light-sensitive cells (photoreceptors) to regenerate.
