Welcome to the 'Talking' Books Peer Support Group where we invite you to come and share your experience and knowledge around all things audiobooks at our bi-monthly meetings, a dedicated space for those living with inherited sight loss to connect through the power of the spoken word.

To celebrate World Book Day, we are delighted to announce the launch of our fifth interest focused peer support group in our Talking Series called ‘Talking’ Books. We invite you to join us to welcome group facilitators Cindy Peacock and Jane Copsey who both share a passion for the immersive world of audiobooks.

Cindy lives on the London/Essex boarder, was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at the age of 9 and has been severely sight impaired with only light perception for 30 years, she is now 51.

Cindy lives at home with her husband and has 3 children, all over 21, two of which still live at home. Two of her children also have RP,  she has a very busy life as works full time as a social worker, has a large family and enjoys travelling and reading books. Cindy has volunteered for Retina UK for many years, finds it rewarding and loves having the opportunity to support others and meet new people.

Jane lives in Yetminster, Dorset with her husband Lester. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Jane is living with RP and was not diagnosed until 2000. Her sight has got significantly worse in the last 3 years. Jane is now retired and volunteers for Retina UK and her local sight loss charity Dorset Blind Association.

Jane has a background in business and worked in marketing and brand management into her 40s, ran her own marketing business between 2000 and 2007.  After that she changed direction slightly and has since worked in operational management roles working with young people in education and training, vulnerable adults with autism and learning disabilities and offenders.

Jane is known for her friendly, approachable nature and outgoing personality. She enjoys outdoor activities and sports, travelling (and more recently cruising), cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends. She has recently re-discovered reading through audiobooks and enjoys a wide range of titles and genres.

Come and step into a world where stories truly come alive. We are thrilled to invite you to the launch of our new immersive audiobooks peer support group, a dedicated space for those living with inherited sight loss to connect through the power of the spoken word. Whether you’re a lifelong listener or navigating a new diagnosis, join us to share favourite narrators and build a community that understands your unique journey.
