South Yorkshire Local Peer Support Group
This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people with inherited sight loss to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
We are pleased to announce that our West Yorkshire Group is moving to Sheffield and will now be known as our South Yorkshire Local Peer Support Group! Come along to the launch meeting and join Retina UK's James Clarke and guest speaker Sarah Bennett from Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind for an in-person social get together at Grappa Sheffield.
We at Retina UK are constantly striving to connect our community living with inherited retinal sight loss in different areas across the UK so we are delighted to announce that we are moving this peer support group to Sheffield.
We strongly feel that it is important to collaborate and liaise with local sight loss organisations when introducing local groups to a new area therefore we are pleased to be joined by Sarah Bennett, Life Ahead Project Co-ordinator at Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB).
SRSB provides opportunity, support, friendship and services to blind and partially sighted people in Sheffield, helping them to achieve whatever they wish to do and whatever they aspire to be. They also have a wide range of services to meet the needs of children and adults of all ages.
Sarah’s role involves working with clients at the beginning of their sight loss journey and introducing them to lot’s of things that can help and further down the line when they are ready to move forward with their lives. She also runs their RP Support group.
Please come along to Grappa Sheffield for a coffee and a light bite to meet our Senior Fundraising Manager James, hear from Sarah, meet other members of the group and share any ideas you may have for future meetings throughout the year.
Please meet up with James inside the main entrance to Grappa between 1.45pm and 2pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!
