Retina UK goes global! Could you take on an adventure of a lifetime and take part in the Sahara Desert Trek in November 2025?

Are you ready for an epic adventure in 2025?

Join fundraisers from Retina UK as they trek across the Moroccan desert, gaining an insight into this vast and diverse landscape as well as discovering the Berber way of life. You will spend two full days and two half days trekking across ancient dried up river beds, sand dunes and vast sun-baked plains.

Camping during the Sahara trek gives you a chance to experience the stunning stars in the night sky (weather permitting) and the traditional Berber cuisine cooked by the team is second to none.

You will then spend two days helping a community project in Marrakech which supports vulnerable young people with education and vocational training after they have been orphaned, abused or rejected by their family.

The organisation also supports elderly people whose families have abandoned them by creating a comfortable social environment for them to spend their golden years.

Your tasks will vary depending on the need at the time but you’re likely to get involved with refurbishment, redecorating and gardening which will make an instant impact at this incredible centre.

Pricing

You can either self-fund the trek and pay £1,350 yourself (made up of a £350 registration fee and a £1,000 balance), or if you’d like to choose the sponsorship option, you can pay a £350 registration fee and then the remaining costs will be taken from your fundraising. Whichever payment method you choose, we’ll be asking for a minimum sponsorship target of £2,500. Your travel, meals and accommodation are included in your fees.

In addition to registration with Retina UK, I understand that I am required to confirm my registration with the event organiser (including agreeing to the event organiser’s terms and conditions) in line with information provided by Retina UK and that failure to do this may result in my place being lost.

I acknowledge that I have provided data about myself in order to register with Retina UK for this event and that Retina UK will need to pass this information to the event organiser to register my place.

Registration for this event includes the payment of a non-refundable registration fee of £350 to the tour operator.

Any charity place allocated to me is non-transferable and any attempt to transfer my place to another person may result in the place being withdrawn.

The event

All trekkers take part at their own risk.

I understand that I am taking part in an event that is not organised by Retina UK and that Retina UK accepts no liability with respect to my participation.

If I am unable to take part in the event, I will inform Retina UK immediately.

I give permission to Retina UK to use any photographs/videos taken of me to raise awareness and/or money for its work and/or events.

I understand that Retina UK will contact me via telephone, letter or email for any matter relating to my fundraising and my participation in the event.

Fundraising

I understand that event places have an associated cost to Retina UK and commit to raising a minimum of £2,500 (excluding Gift Aid and any registration fee paid) for Retina UK.

I commit to raising £2,000 by 1 June 2025 and the remaining amount no later than 4 weeks after the event.

Medical history and fitness confirmation

13. A trek is a strenuous activity and the decision to take part in one should not be taken lightly. If you have any medical conditions that could be adversely affected by exercise or if you are in any doubt about your health, you must seek advice from your doctor.
