This National Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people with inherited sight loss from all over the UK to meet up to share experiences, tips and information. Meetings are held quarterly - Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter and cover a range of different topics and guest speakers.

We are pleased to invite you to join us for our National Peer Support Group Summer meeting where we are delighted to welcome our guest speakers Bhavini Makwana and Eamonn Dunne, Policy and Campaigns Managers at Thomas Pocklington Trust.

Thomas Pocklington Trust is a UK-based charity that champions the needs, rights, and aspirations of blind and partially sighted people. Operating nationwide, it focuses on three core pillars: education, employment, and societal engagement to improve overall life chances and foster an inclusive, equitable society.

Their key initiatives and services include:

Employment Support: Offers career coaching, CV templates, and paid internship programs. They also provides resources for employers to help them successfully hire and retain visually impaired candidates.

Education & Student Support: Helps visually impaired students navigate the education system from secondary school to university—by providing accessibility guides and professional training resources.

Sight Loss Councils: Funds and facilitates regional groups led by blind and partially sighted individuals to advocate for change, improve local services, and shape government policies.

Grants & Partnerships: Provides direct grants and funding to organizations across the UK that deliver positive, systemic outcomes for the visually impaired community.

Health & Wellbeing: Promotes health equality and advocates for better eye care support pathways and social care services.

In addition to addressing equality in life opportunities, their strategy is designed to support blind and partially sighted people at every stage of their journey through the education system, further training or employment and their chosen careers.

Please come along and join us to hear from Bhavini and Eamonn about this amazing, life changing charity, as well as having the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there!
