National Peer Support Group
This National Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people with inherited sight loss from all over the UK to meet up to share experiences, tips and information. Meetings are held quarterly - Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter and cover a range of different topics and guest speakers.
We are pleased to invite you to join us for our National Peer Support Group Autumn meeting where 'This is Your Day to Have Your Say', celebrating both World Sight Day and Retina UK Day.
World Sight Day, observed annually on the second Thursday of October (falling on October 8, 2026), is a global advocacy day coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) in cooperation with the World Health Organization. It focuses world attention on eye health, raising awareness about avoidable blindness, vision impairment, and the critical need for accessible, affordable eye care worldwide.
To coincide with World Sight Day, Retina UK Day is an annual event to bring community together who are living with inherited sight loss through peer support and fundraising activities across the UK.
We want to celebrate this double milestone with you and gather your feedback, thoughts, and ideas on how our peer support group network is progressing—both online and in person. Looking ahead to 2027, Retina UK’s peer support network has grown by approximately 90% over the past five years, expanding into community-focused online groups, our popular ‘Talking’ series interest groups and continued to grow our localised peer support groups around the UK.
Driven by the incredible dedication, imagination and creativity of our staff, volunteers and community living with inherited sight loss, we invite you to share your voice so we can continue to offer the connection and accessibility you need most — so please take a moment to come and join us for an informal get together to tell us how we can best move forward together and shape the next chapter of our peer support services.

Please note that this meeting will be recorded and the audio only uploaded to our You Tube channel so please do not share any personal contact information. However, please feel free to share your experiences living with sight loss but only if you feel comfortable in doing so and remember that others outside of this meeting will be able to hear it on this public platform.
