Merseyside Local Peer Support Group in collaboration with SocialEyes Warrington
This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people with inherited sight loss to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
We are pleased to introduce our new volunteer group facilitator Anna Browne and invite you to join us for the first online meeting of our new Merseyside local peer support group in collaboration with SocialEyes Warrington.
We are constantly striving to grow our peer support group network and are pleased to announce that we have introduced this new group to cover all of the Merseyside area for those who are living with inherited, progressive sight loss collaborating with Anna’s recently established SocialEyes Warrington group.
Here is a lovely introduction from Anna:-
“My names Anna, I am 31 and currently employed as a medical secretary in Ophthalmology.
I was diagnosed at age 21 with Retinitis Pigmentosa. Over the years I struggled to come to terms with my diagnosis, dealing with depression and anxiety. I tried to reach out to different organisations but had no luck in finding any support for younger individuals. After meeting my Partner 3 year ago I finally got the confidence and courage to accept my diagnosis and after reaching out for advice, I set up Socialeyes support group, with the help of my friends.
The aim of this group is to enable working aged individuals to connect with one another and create a social network for activities and events in the hopes of ending the isolation and stigma that comes with the diagnosis. I want to support others who may feel the same loneliness and give encouragement that there is hope and through peer support, we can achieve anything.”
We hope you can come along to this online launch meeting to hear from Anna and the SocialEyes group to find out how we will be working together for future meetings both online and in-person.
