This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people with inherited sight loss to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
We are pleased to invite you to join facilitator Valerie Scott and the Edinburgh group for their first in-person meet up of the year where we are delighted to welcome our guest speaker Chloe Brotherton, PhD Student working with Dr Roly Megaw.
Chloe is a dedicated PhD student, investigating the role of RPGR in photoreceptor function and how its dysregulation contributes to photoreceptor diseases, with a particular emphasis on cone photoreceptor disorders under the supervision of Dr. Roly Megaw and Professor Pleasatine Mill. She is excited about uncovering the underlying mechanisms of genetic diseases to drive the development of potential therapies. In addition to her research, Chloe is passionate about education. She serves as a tutor for the Research Evidence-Based Medicine (REBM) module in the second-year medical program at the University of Edinburgh, where she has the opportunity to share her knowledge and cultivate her love for teaching.
Come and join us to hear from Chloe and feel free to ask any questions you may have around her ongoing research.
We welcome and encourage you to come and have your say in how we move forward with this peer support group and how we can best support our community in Edinburgh living with inherited sight loss.
So please come along and share any ideas you may have for topics of discussion or speakers you would like to hear from as well as venues and events you may like to visit in the coming year or if you would just like a chat, advice or simply need a listening ear, we are here to support you.
Please meet up with Valerie and the group by 10.45pm inside the theatre lobby where you will then be guided to the meeting room.
Please could we ask that you register via the form below so we know who to expect on the day, thank you and we look forward to seeing you there!
