Belfast Local Peer Support Group
This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people with inherited sight loss to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
We are pleased to invite you to come and join facilitators Kim, Annmarie and the Belfast Bumpers group for their latest online get together where we are delighted to welcome our guest speaker Brian Coates.
Bumpers Group member Brian, has Stargardts disease and will be talking about his sight loss journey and how he manages with no remaining central vision and limited peripheral vision. Brian has a doctorate in Chemistry and works for the NHS. He is incredible with computers, a wonderful friend and extremely handy with anything to do with DIY around the house including building himself a Summer house and installing solar panels on his roof. Brian was able to drive up until his late thirty’s and now lives with his two gorgeous dogs, loves hiking and would even like to take up ballroom dancing.
Following on from Brian’s talk we can have a social catch up where we can discuss and plan some of our in-person get togethers and future meetings throughout the year.
We welcome and encourage you to come and have your say in how we move forward with this peer support group and how we can best support our community across Northern Ireland living with inherited sight loss.
So please come along and share any ideas you have for venues and events you may like to visit for the rest of the year or if you would just like a chat, advice or simply need a listening ear, we are here to support you.
Whether you are a returning member or new to the group, everyone is welcome!
We look forward to seeing you there!
