London Marathon 2027 – Registration

1. Event participation
   • I understand that the TCS London Marathon is organised by a third-party event organiser and not Retina UK. I agree to read and comply with all terms and conditions issued by the event organiser.
   • I confirm that I am medically and physically fit to take part in the event and understand that I participate and train at my own risk. Retina UK will not be responsible for any injury, illness, loss or damage arising from my training or participation, except where caused by Retina UK’s negligence or where liability cannot legally be excluded.
   • I understand that Retina UK may need to share my name and contact details with the event organiser and relevant third parties for the administration of the event.
   • I agree to complete the event organiser’s registration process by the required deadline. Failure to do so may result in my place being withdrawn.
2. Registration and place
   • I understand that the registration fee of £150 is payable by 1 October 2026, is non-refundable and cannot be counted towards my fundraising target.
   • I understand that my place is non-transferable to another person or event.
   • I acknowledge that Retina UK reserves the right to withdraw my place if I do not meet the requirements outlined in these terms.
3. Fundraising commitment
   • I agree to raise a minimum of £3,000 (excluding Gift Aid) for Retina UK.
   • I commit to reaching the following milestones:
     1. 25% (£750) by 1 January 2027
     2. 50% (£1,500) by 1 March 2027
     3. 80% (£2,400) by race day (25 April 2027)
   • I agree to pay all funds raised to Retina UK no later than 1 June 2027.
   • I understand that all funds raised are held in trust for Retina UK and must be paid to the charity in full.
   • I understand that Gift Aid cannot be counted towards my fundraising target, as it can take several weeks to be processed.
   • I agree to set up my online fundraising page as soon as possible after accepting my place, and no later than two weeks after receiving confirmation from Retina UK.
   • I understand that Retina UK recommends using Enthuse, the official fundraising partner of the TCS London Marathon, to support a smooth event experience and reporting.
   • I may choose to use an alternative platform, such as JustGiving; however, I understand it is my responsibility to ensure my page is set up correctly and linked to Retina UK.
   • If using JustGiving, I will ensure my page is connected to Retina UK’s official TCS London Marathon campaign page: www.justgiving.com/campaign/retinauk-london-marathon-2027
   • I agree to personalise and actively share my fundraising page to support early donations and engagement.
   • I understand that Retina UK may contact me if my fundraising page has not been set up within the expected timeframe.
4. Withdrawal and deferrals
   • If I am unable to take part, I will notify Retina UK as soon as possible by emailing [email protected].
   • I understand that deferrals may be offered at Retina UK’s discretion and are subject to availability in the following year.
   • To be considered for deferral, I must:
     1. Have raised at least 50% of my fundraising target
     2. Request the deferral no later than the Friday before the TCS London Marathon
     3. Not have deferred my place previously
   • I understand that requesting a deferral as early as possible will give Retina UK the best opportunity to consider my request.
   • Deferrals will typically only be considered in exceptional circumstances, such as injury, illness, or other significant personal reasons.
   • If a deferral is agreed, all funds raised will be carried forward to the following year and I will continue fundraising towards the new target set.
   • I understand that my registration fee is non-refundable and may need to be paid again for the deferred place.
5. Fundraising responsibilities
   • I will make it clear to donors that I am fundraising in aid of Retina UK and that all donations will support the charity’s work.
   • I understand that donations will not normally be refunded if I withdraw or do not complete the event. Any request for a refund will be considered by Retina UK in accordance with applicable law, the relevant fundraising platform’s terms and Retina UK’s donation-refund procedures.
   • Fundraising pages should also make clear that donations support Retina UK’s general charitable work, whether or not the runner participates or finishes.
   • I will fundraise in a safe and responsible way, ensuring that no harm comes to myself or others.
   • I will not undertake any activity that could bring Retina UK into disrepute.
   • I will ensure that any fundraising complies with relevant laws and regulations, including those relating to collections, raffles, and licensing.
   • I understand that Retina UK cannot provide insurance for my fundraising activities and that I am responsible for arranging this where necessary.
6. Use of branding and communications
   • I will seek permission from Retina UK before using the charity’s logo or branding in any materials.
   • I will not approach companies, media, or celebrities on behalf of Retina UK without prior written approval from Retina UK.
   • I understand that Retina UK will regularly contact me to support my fundraising and provide event-related information.
7. Photography and media
   • I understand that photographs or videos may be taken during the event.
   • I agree that Retina UK may use these images in marketing and communications (both print and digital) for up to five years.
   • If I do not wish for my image to be used, I will inform Retina UK in advance.
8. General
   • Retina UK may make reasonable changes to these terms where necessary to reflect changes to the event, legal or regulatory requirements, or circumstances outside its control. Retina UK will notify participants of any material change.
   • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
