It’s so great that you are planning a fundraising activity and we are so pleased that you are considering fundraising for Retina UK!
We know that fundraising comes in all different shapes and sizes, and we want to make sure we give you the best support possible. Whether you’re looking for a charity place in one of our events, planning your own event, or are looking to fundraise for us using your own place in an event, let us know! That way we can provide tailored advice and support for your activity.

We have challenges throughout the year, including marathons, half marathons, cycling events and skydives. We also have our brand new Retina UK Challenge Series, with challenges including the arts, baking, and sports events. If you’d like to take part in one of our events, choose your challenge (or challenges!) here.
If you already have your own place in own of our calendared events and you’ve paid for it directly through the event organisers, then you can register this with us too. Once you’ve found the event you’ve got a place in on our site, just email us at fundraising@RetinaUK.org.uk to let us know and you will be added to the team.
If you’ve got a place in an event but can’t see it listed on our website, don’t worry, you can still fundraise for us! Just email us at fundraising@RetinaUK.org.uk or give us a call on 01280 815900.
When you sign up to fundraise for Retina UK, we are able to offer you a fundraising pack full of lots of information on fundraising for Retina UK, a Retina UK t-shirt or running vest, monthly e-newsletters and other materials such as donation envelopes, collection tins, collection buckets, banners, balloons, leaflets and sim specs.
Our experienced fundraising team are also on hand to answer any questions you may have along the way, as well as providing you with their top insider tips to help you get the most out of your fundraising experience.

There are a few different ways to pay in the fundraising, and it’s entirely up to you which you choose:
By making a card payment over the phone, you can call us on 01280 815900 to pay in your fundraising by debit or credit card.
By making a donation through our website here.
By sending us a cheque made out to Retina UK to the following address: Wharf House, Stratford Road, Buckingham, MK18 1TD – be sure to write your name and any additional details on the back of the cheque.

Sponsorship forms are great for offline fundraising! You can request an electronic copy or a hard copy by emailing fundraising@RetinaUK.org.uk or by phoning us on 01280 815900.
If you are using an online platform such as Just Giving, Virgin Money Giving, Wonderful and Facebook the money raised will come to us automatically
Online fundraising pages are a fantastic way to tell your story, share updates, and keep track of the money you have raised. There are a few different platforms you can use, including Just Giving, Virgin Money Giving, Wonderful and Facebook.
There’s also a platform called GivePenny, where people can also pledge to sponsor you per mile that you run. Have a look at our Virtual Run page on GivePenny here.

Absolutely! We have both collection tins and buckets available.
If you would like to order a collection can or bucket, please complete the request form here. Please note, we are only able to offer a maximum of five collection cans and two buckets and you must be registered with us in order to receive these.
Before holding a collection, you may want to read up on these guidelines here to make sure everything is above board.
Gift Aid is an arrangement that allows charities to reclaim tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer, which means your donations will be worth 25% more to us at no extra cost to you.
Whether you pay online, by phone or post please make sure that you send all your filled-out sponsorship forms to Retina UK. If we don’t receive your forms, Retina UK won’t be able to claim Gift Aid.
Online fundraising pages such as Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving collect Gift Aid for us automatically.
Under UK law, certain donations are not eligible for Gift Aid. If your donation falls into any of the following categories, Gift Aid shouldn’t be claimed:
Donations made by anyone who is not a UK taxpayer.*
Donations made on behalf of someone else or a group of people – For example, you collect money from your friends and family and then made a bulk donation. Even if they are UK taxpayers, the donation is not eligible. HMRC needs a Gift Aid declaration from each of the donors contributing to the collection.
Donations made in return for something. For example, you are making a donation in return for a ticket to attend an event, most purchases of goods at an auction, a cake sale donation, or buying a raffle ticket.
Donations made on behalf of a company (however, the company can claim tax relief on the donation when donating directly to the charity).
*NOTE if you are either not a UK taxpayer, or if you pay less income tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount claimed on all your donations, HMRC may require you to pay the difference, minimising risk.

Once your order has been processed, this should be with you within 2-3 working days. If you need your materials sooner, please get in touch with the fundraising team on 01280 815900 or fundraising@RetinaUK.org.uk and we will do our best to get the materials to you sooner.
You might find you don’t want your top after all or maybe it doesn’t quite fit. If that’s the case you can return it to us or exchange it for a different size.

Please include your name, address and, if you would like to exchange it, please state the size you would like, and our fundraising team will sort this all out for you.
For the London Marathon, we hold a post-race reception. If you are signing up to this event then do look out for details.
Unfortunately, as we are a very small team and do get asked to lots of events, it isn’t usually possible for us to attend these, as much as we would love to. If this is something that is really important to you for your fundraising, then we would suggest getting in touch with Retina UK team on 01280 815900 or email fundraising@RetinaUK.org.uk.
In terms of promotion on social media, you are more than welcome to send us the link to your own fundraising page and we will share it for you, although we often find that a fundraiser’s own social media posts are the most effective way of sharing their event and personal story, as it utilises their personal networks and connections to spread the word most effectively.
