We are here for you

We are all living in challenging times and this is causing uncertainty and anxiety for many in our community.

In March we recorded a significant increase in demand for our information and support services, including a 30% rise in the number of calls to our helpline compared to the previous year.

At the same time, with many fundraising events cancelled, we are experiencing a significant drop in our income and sadly we expect this to continue for many months. In fact we anticipate our income will be halved this year. This will hit our charity hard.

But we are taking bold steps now to protect our finances to ensure we come through these challenging times. Last week, for example, we have taken the difficult decision to furlough a large number of our staff.

While our staff team may be smaller, we continue to be here for you – you are not alone. And we are determined to continue to be here to provide support for those with inherited sight loss and fund research into these conditions for many years to come.

Our dedicated volunteers generously give their time to ensure our community can stay connected and receive emotional support and practical information through our helpline and talk & support services. We also remain committed to providing as much funding as we can for research that is so desperately needed.

We hope you will understand that we need your help now more than ever before. If you are able to, please continue to fundraise for us (there are many ways you can do this) or donate what you can afford. We are grateful for your ongoing support.

We will get through this together.
