A call for participants to join our online forum

The RP Fighting Blindness Working Age Group Project is a partnership project led by RP Fighting Blindness, with involvement from Thomas Pocklington Trust and RNIB.

The aim of this project is to inform the development of useful, relevant and sustainable support services, with a view to ‘future-proofing’ careers for when visually impairment becomes a reality. We want to ensure that working age people who are living with degenerative sight loss have choices about their future working lives, know in advance their options with regards to employment and have support to fulfil their ambitions.

You may be aware of this project, and the work it has already undertaken; last year we conducted focus groups and telephone interviews with participants to understand the broader issues around employment for people with inherited progressive sight loss. We’re now excited to be moving on to the next stage; an online forum.

The online forum will be an informal discussion held over a couple of days – all you need is access to a computer! You would not be expected to be permanently logged in over that time, but would be required to log in, answer some questions and contribute to the discussion, as and when you have the opportunity.

The forum will be on the 18th and 19th April. It will be open daytime and evening of both days, so you can take part outside of your working day if that works best for you.

It will be moderated in confidence by Derek Mitchell, our independent researcher working on this project with us.

We really hope you can participate. We have limited spaces available so please respond soon to to let us know if you can take part.

If you have any questions about the Working Age Group Project, or the online forum, please contact Thomas O’Neill at RP Fighting Blindness on or call 01280 821334.
