Meet the team

We are a small and friendly team of enthusiastic fundraisers passionate about raising as much money as possible to fund pioneering research and vital services. You can reach any member of the team by calling the fundraising office on 01280 815900 or using the email addresses below.

Deborah Laing

Senior Fundraising Manager

I head up the team, formulate our overall strategy and secure funding from charitable foundations for research and services. I’ve worked as a fundraiser for ten years, and I love being part of a charity that’s so focused on creating real change.

Emily Webb

Events & Community Fundraising Manager

I manage our calendar of fundraising events, giving our supporters a variety of challenges and events to get involved in, and supporting them on their fundraising journey. I have worked in events for over five years now, working on everything from conferences, corporate dinners and charity balls, to weddings and challenge events such as marathons and skydives! I also oversee our community fundraising, and love hearing about everything our community fundraisers get up to. It’s so rewarding to help people achieve their personal challenges whilst also raising funds for such a brilliant charity.

Leanne Thomas

Fundraising Assistant

I look after all of our wonderful community supporters as well as working with our Fundraising Events Manager, Emily, to support our challenge event participants. Fundraising is fairly new to me, as I previously worked for a local Fire Authority, so taking on new challenges, developing myself further and being part of something so rewarding has been a real joy.

Laura Horton

Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager

I manage our corporate partnerships, as well as our relationships with those supporters who are able to give significant gifts to Retina UK. I work with supporters to help them achieve their aims and objectives, and build a connection to the cause. My passion for fundraising is two-fold; firstly I am determined to make the biggest impact possible for our beneficiaries, their families and wider society. Secondly, I want to provide our supporters with the best possible experience, and ensure that they know that their time and money have been well invested. I put the supporter at the heart of everything I do.

Alice Capper

Fundraising Co-ordinator

My role includes researching suitable charitable trusts and foundations and assisting with sending applications for funding. I also co-ordinate the stewardship of some of our most significant supporters; sending messages of thanks and regular charitable updates. Being part of a small, close-knit team means I can get involved in a variety of different areas of fundraising too, which I love!
