Young Adults Peer Support Group

  • Date and Time info: 4/12/2025 from 19:00:00 to 20:30:00
  • Location: Via Zoom
  • Online

This Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for young adults aged 18 - 30 living with inherited sight loss to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.

Are you aged 18 to 30 and living with an inherited retinal dystrophy? If so, then please come and join facilitator Martik Aghajanian and the group for a festive Young Adults online social catch up where we are delighted to be joined by our guest speakers Emma Quigley and Joe Maguire from Blind in Business.

Blind in Business is a national charity that supports blind and partially sighted people in finding work. They help their candidates to develop confidence, build aspirations, assist in identifying potential job opportunities and support them through the application process. They also run workshops to help develop employability skills and to give candidates the opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals as well as work experience opportunities and 1:1 mentoring sessions as part of the support. All of their services are free of charge.

Pathways Coordinator, Joe graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2018 with a degree in History, and then from Bournemouth University in 2020 with a Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Management. He then had a 3 year gap while looking for work during the pandemic and struggling to find the right opportunity. In January 2023, Joe joined TPT’s Get Set Progress internship scheme as the Employment Coordinator at Blind in Business. This turned into a permanent role in September of that year and then moving over to the Pathways Service in May 2025, working with their younger cohort.

Emma is the Employment Coordinator, so supports VI individuals aged 18 and above with finding work. She can help with researching roles, reading through CVs and cover letters, and practising mock interviews. As part of the Employment Team, she also helps to organise insight days with a variety of employers in different industries.

Please come along for our last monthly social get together of the year to hear from Emma and Joe and ask any questions you may have and feel free to share your stories and experiences as a young adult who is living with progressive sight loss.

So grab a drink, some nibbles, your Christmas jumper and join us to share your ideas for topics of discussion and speakers you would like to hear from as well as in-person events you may like to try in 2026!

We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there!
