This Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.

We are pleased to invite you to join group facilitator Richard Zimbler for the next meeting of our Wrexham & Wales peer support group where we are delighted to welcome guest speaker Frankie Rohan, Workforce Officer at British Blind Sport.

Frankie is the workforce lead with BBS. She is responsible for all things coaching, education awareness of V.I activity and sport, and up-skilling those who are looking to help make sessions/groups and activities, more inclusive for Blind and partially sighted people.

Frankie is registered blind herself, and has been for around 8 years now. She plays and coaches V.I tennis and is one of 2 national coaches of the GB Tennis team.

She is hugely passionate about getting more blind and partially sighted people active, as she knows the physical and, more importantly, the mental health benefits, of getting involved in an activity.

At British Blind Sport they offer numerous services and information to help those find out about V.I sport and activity, and also to support those who are already taking part. They have an activity finder that allows people to find activities in their area, as well as an A-Z of sports and activities that are adapted for V.I people of all ages.

Along with this they have an extensive library of educational resources and research documents for anyone looking to upskill themselves on the subject of individual sports, activities and studies around the link with sight loss and keeping active.

BBS pride themselves on having strong links with National Governing Bodies, and other large organisations, ensuring they are working in partnership with all links, to improve inclusion and opportunities for those with sight loss. Local provision is their priority as well, to keep a grass roots connection with communities.

They are involved with Wales when it comes to provision, but this is an area that they definitely want to grow and improve with regards to workforce and participation within V.I Sport.

We hope you can join us to learn more about the great work British Blind Sport do and what they can offer in your area.

We look forward to seeing you there!
