West Yorkshire local peer support group
This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
Welcome to the launch meeting of the West Yorkshire local peer support group where we would like to give a warm welcome to our new Retina UK volunteer, Damian Maccallum who will be facilitating this new group.
Also joining us for our first meeting will be Faye Herbert, Volunteer Manager at Halifax Society for the Blind, who will talk about some of the support and services that they can provide to those living with sight loss in the West Yorkshire area.
Halifax Society for the Blind has been supporting people with sight loss in Halifax since 1888.
With a new premises in the centre of Halifax, the Society now boasts a large Sight Centre displaying a variety of assistive equipment where you can also get information and advice from their trained Sight Support Advisors. They also run a range of activities for people with sight loss including social group meetings and groups targeted at specific interests e.g. Bowling, Working Age group and a Teen’s group.
