This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.

We are pleased to invite you to our first meeting of 2023 where group facilitator, Valerie Scott, will be welcoming speaker Jo Hill, Patient Support Worker for Visibility Scotland based at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion. Jo will speak about her role and the support services available to those living with sight loss across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas as well as answering any questions you may have.

Visibility Scotland provide Patient Support Services across central Scotland. In Edinburgh, they have a team based at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion. These dedicated staff offer tailored practical and emotional support to adults at all stages of their sight loss journey. The service is open to all patients of the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion regardless of where they live.

If you are living with sight loss, their friendly team can help with:

  • making the most of your vision
  • the registration process
  • reading and navigation
  • technology and assistive apps
  • benefits and entitlements
  • emotional support and much more.

Their team can also make direct referrals into the Rehabilitation and Mobility Services provided by Sight Scotland and into Social Work Locality Teams.

Patients can drop-in to meet with a member of their team on the third floor of the Eye Pavilion, Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 pm or call the team on 0131 378 1874 to make an appointment.

The Patient Support Service is funded by Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership.
