East Midlands local peer support group
This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
We are pleased to invite you to join group facilitator Sarah Leadbetter for the second half of our East Midlands local peer support group launch meeting where we are delighted to welcome guest speaker Michaela Ardley, Community Services Manager for the Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society.
We are constantly striving to grow our peer support group network and strongly feel that it is important to collaborate and liaise with local sight loss organisations when introducing local groups to a new area. Therefore, following on from the first half of our launch meeting in June where we were joined by speakers from My Sight Notts and Sight Support Derbyshire, for this meeting we are pleased to welcome Michaela from the Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society.
The society’s service covers Lincoln, East & West Lindsey, North Lincolnshire and NE Lincolnshire, they have a range of services and these are tailored to meet the individual needs of the client. This includes anything from advice around gadgets/equipment, getting into work/training, befriending, benefits advice, living safely, gaining confidence, tools for independent living, social & health care advice and guidance.
Michaela has been with the Society since 2012, she started as a Volunteer Coordinator, then became a Sight Impairment Officer leading to her current post as the Society’s Community Services Manager in January 2022. Michaela’s role with the Society includes domiciliary visiting and leading the team of Sight Impairment Officers.
Even if you live outside of these areas, please still come along and meet others who live across the East Midlands for the second half of this launch meeting and we will endeavour to invite other representatives from local sight loss organisations for future meetings.
