East Midlands local peer support group
This Local Peer Support Group provides a welcoming, safe and friendly opportunity for people to meet up to share experiences, tips and information.
We are pleased to invite you to join group facilitator Sarah Leadbetter for our next East Midlands local peer support group meeting where we are delighted to welcome guest speaker Rachel Fairman, Volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Rachel has several volunteer roles for Guide Dogs, firstly within the local Leicestershire and Rutland Guide Dogs branch she is a Fundraiser and the Secretary of the Fundraising Committee. She also manages the Branch Twitter and Instagram accounts to keep people up to date with news and events.
Secondly, for the National Breeding Centre, she is a Breeding Stock Boarder, this means that she boards Guide Dog Mum’s and Dad’s when their holders are on holiday.
Thirdly, for the Guide Dogs Twitch channel, she co-hosts a live stream called Canine Crossing where she interviews Guide Dogs staff and volunteers so that viewers can learn about how Guide Dogs operate and how their dogs are bred and trained.
We hope you can join us to hear about this fascinating insight into the life of a Guide Dog volunteer.
